2018年9月15日、女優の樹木希林さんが永眠されました。樹木さんを回顧するときに思い出すことは人それぞれです。古くは、テレビドラマ『寺内貫太郎一家』で「ジュリー~」と身悶えるお婆ちゃんの暴れっぷりや、連続テレビ小説『はね駒』で演じた貞女のような母親役、「美しい方はより美しく、そうでない方はそれなりに……」というテレビCMでのとぼけた姿もいまだに強く印象に残っています。近年では、『わが母の記』や『万引き家族』などで見せた融通無碍な演技は、瞠目に値するものでした。まさに平成の名女優と言えるでしょう。
樹木さんは活字において、数多くのことばを遺しました。語り口は平明で、いつもユーモアを添えることを忘れないのですが、じつはとても深い。彼女の語ることが説得力をもって私たちに迫ってくるのは、浮いたような借り物は一つもないからで、それぞれのことばが樹木さんの生き方そのものであったからではないでしょうか。本人は意識しなくとも、警句や名言の山を築いているのです。

- Very good: A book that looks new but has been read. Cover has no visible wear. No missing or damaged pages, no creases or tears, and no underlining or highlighting of text, and no writing in the margins, possible very minimal creasing.
